A CHARTERED UNIVERSITY & INTERGOVERNMENTAL INSTITUTE WITHIN | EUCLID

Question:

How does EUCLID relate to EULER (and vice-versa)?

Answers:

EUCLID is an intergovernmental organization with a university mandate/charter established in 2008. Over the years, EUCLID developed several institutes (in accordance with its statutes), including the Euler-Franeker Memorial University Institute, which would lay the foundations of a fully autonomous and separate university with its own Charter and specificities. EUCLID supported the development of EULER between 2011 and 2013 until the Charter was granted and will continue to support EULER as long as is needed,  notably to complete AAC (accreditation)  processes for EULER (Euler-Franeker Memorial University).

In summary:

  • EUCLID (Euclid University) = intergovernmental organization
  • Euler-Franeker Memorial University Institute = an institute within EUCLID which established a foundation for a new university
  • Euler-Franeker Memorial University = a free-standing and chartered university authorized to confer degrees in its own name.
